Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the music like?

The short answer is: it depends!

We are proud to offer a variety of different styles of worship music.  The Sunday, 11am mass features a high-energy contemporary band. The Sunday 9am mass follows a traditional format, with organ and choir.  The Saturday 4:30pm mass is a contemplative experience, offering a cantor, organ, and a monthly chant choir.

What if I’m not Catholic?

All are welcome! We do our best to help you feel at home. We have TVs with slides to help you follow along and our greeters are ready to answer any questions you might have.

How do I become Catholic? How do I arrange a wedding, baptism, or other sacrament?

We are happy to celebrate with you!
You can learn more here.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes, absolutely!  We love it when our church is full of kids of all ages.  There is a Family Room at the back of the church where you can go if your kids are having trouble settling down.  There is a changing table in the main washroom at the back of the church.

Is there anything special for kids during mass?

Yes!  During the 11:00 mass, “Catch the Wave” is a special free program for kids ages 3 to 12.  You can register here, or just sign up your kids when you arrive.

Is there a dress code?

No, please come as you are.  Casual or dressed up — all are welcome!

Is the church accessible to wheelchairs?

There’s a handicapped access ramp along the right-hand side of the church for the main church area. If you need access to the lower level, please contact us ahead of time to make arrangements.

Is there parking?

Street parking available. Paid parking is available on the Concordia Campus behind the church building. Limited parking passes available.

“Tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it—not for sordid gain but eagerly. Do not lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.”
1 Peter 5:2-3

Rarely a day goes by that I do not learn something new from the amazing people I work with. That prospect excites me.

“What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.”
Hans Urs von Balthasar

It’s great to be able to use my God-given talents, and be a witness to God’s Spirit, as He transforms the lives of the people here. To see with my very own eyes, God’s love moving, as we help build His Kingdom, one person at a time.

“I come so that they might have life, and have it to the full.”

John 10:10

What I love about working here is the spirit of teamwork, that we all know what the goal is, but we are figuring out how to best reach it. We are encouraged to be creative and share our ideas as we come together to be living and active rocks in the Kingdom of God.

“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!”
Luke 12:24

Great people, always lots of laughing! And yet we are unified in our mission. Because if living your faith doesn’t significantly improve your life, then why bother?

“…as I grew older, there were certain things about the way I thought, reacted, behaved. I came to ruefully and bemusedly understand that once you’re a Catholic, you’re always a Catholic.”

Bruce Springsteen

I love what I do because I am surrounded by warm and generous people. I also love deepening my knowledge of Catholicism. The Church has such a rich history, there is so much to learn.

“The purpose of art is not the release of a momentary ejection of adrenaline but rather the gradual, lifelong construction of a state of wonder and serenity.”
Glenn Gould

My role here allows me to explore and share with others the most profound musical expressions of our faith and culture, within the liturgical contexts that reveal their meanings.  Moreover, this work takes place in a physical space that is both beautiful and peaceful, a constant reminder of the work’s purpose, meaning and blessing.

Christopher Columbus
